This pattern uses US terminology.

Note: Due to so many people having problems with the stitch count I recommend thinking about the project like this:
There are 12 “sections,” each one increasing by 1 stitch. The increase is in the form of 2 dc’s in the first stitch space (ch 3 counts as a dc in the first stitch of each round). So you should have an increase of 12 stitches per row.
