Are you looking for a little bit of fun these days?! This fast and fabulous cowl is just for you. Simple stitches come together in unique and surprising ways to create something both fun and unexpected in this easy accessory. It is the perfect transitional piece for your wardrobe-- a light layer that will add color and flair to any outfit! This bandana-style cowl is unlike any you’ve knit before. It’s full of bite-sized sections filled with stitches that are easy to work, and unique construction to keep things interesting. It’s Simply Fun, so let’s get started!

What to expect:
This design was created to bring JOY to your needles by playing with color and simple textures. All of the stitches are easy to work, but the unique construction will introduce both challenges and surprises. I’m always hoping to guide your knitting skills to the next level, so I’ve created video tutorials and diagrams to help along the way. It’s an intermediate pattern, but I love helping adventurous beginners level up! I want this to be a HAPPY new accessory, and a knitting experience that is SIMPLY FUN!

Needles:
US 4 (3.5mm) circular needles, or as required to meet gauge; 32”/80cm or similar length recommended AND an extra set of circular needles of equal or smaller gauge

Gauge:
23 sts and 46 rows = 4”/10cm in garter stitch before blocking
22 sts and 36 rows = 4”/10cm in garter stitch after blocking
(NOTE: If wet-blocking a swatch, you can pin it in place, but do not stretch it aggressively like you would for a shawl. Gauge is not crucial, but it will affect finished dimensions and yardage.)

Notions:
Required: 2 removable stitch markers, waste yarn, tapestry needle
Optional: blocking pins, wires, and mats

Yarn Requirements:
Fingering weight yarn in 5 colors; 3 dark (C1-C3) and 2 light (C4-C5) solid or semi-solids recommended; suggested yardage includes 20% more than what was used in the sample to account for swatching and gauge differences
C1: 79 yds / 72 m
C2: 78 yds / 72 m
C3: 89 yds / 82 m
C4: 64 yds / 59 m
C5: 64 yds / 59 m

The sample for this design uses SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock in the ’Fairytale’ colorway (80% superwash Merino, 20% nylon; 105yd/1oz): Marine (C1), Iris (C2), Mulberry (C3), Lady Grey (C4), Apricot (C5). Other dyers from around the world have created kits to give you LOTS of options. This project also works great with stash and leftover yarns! Included is information on arranging your colors for beautiful results.
