This kep was designed in celebration of Shetland Wool Week 2012, and the pattern was produced at the Shetland Museum with the help of my workshop participants: Victoria Wickham, Shelly Kocan, Tania Ashton Jones, Susan Freeman, Evelyn Mackenzie, Emily Poleson, Mandy Moore, Mary Pirie, Aileen Ryder, Outi Kater, Joyce James, Tori Seirestad, Charlotte Monckton, Ann Leibert, Mary Henderson, Monique Boonstra, Joyce Ward, Lesley Smith, Melanie Ireland and Jen Arnall Culliford.

Sizing
One size only, to fit adult head 53-56cm/21-22in

You will need:
1 ball of each of the following shades of Jamieson & Smith Shetland Heritage:
MC - Berry Wine
CC1 - Indigo
CC2 - Peat
CC3 - Madder
CC4 - Fluggy White
CC5 - Auld Gold
Sample used entire ball of MC, so you may wish to buy an extra ball if you are concerned about running short.
4 ply yarn for brim lining (less than 50m/55yds) Sample used Orkney Angora 4 ply (100% angora; 400m/50g balls) in grey.
2.75mm (UK 12/US 2) circular needle in the following length: 2 x 40cm / 8in long (or dpns)
3.25mm (UK 11/US 3) circular needle in the following length: 1 x 40cm long (or dpns)
3.25mm (UK 11/US 3) circular needle in the following length: 1x 100cm long (or dpns) for working crown top.
3.25mm (UK 11 / US 3) dpns for working i-cord braid and bind-off.
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends. Stitch marker. Waste yarn for holding sts.
