The Skater Skully is a quick and easy knit. I used my own handspun targhee, chain plyed yarn in the colorway Moonlight. This handspun is a medium fingering weight yarn and I was able to knit this hat using a US 4 needle.

Since this is one size fits all, the gauge isn’t critical as the pattern utilizes k4, p1 ribbing which creates a wonderfully stretchy fabric. Very stocking cap type fabric.

I recommend using handspun (if your a spinner with a huge “stash”), or any KnitPicks yarns that are fingering to sport weight. This pattern doesn’t require very much yarn, so it is perfect to knit using stash or half skeins of left over yarn.

Note: This is an easy beginner’s knitting pattern. To increase the size, just increase your needle and yarn size. To make the cap a tighter fit, just decrease the length of the knitted fabric from 6” to perhaps 4”. This will give you a tighter cap fit.

I hope you enjoy knitting the cap as much as I did creating and knitting it myself!
