These mitts are knitted in the round from the bottom up. They are knit in Shetland fingering yarn in Fair-isle. The thumb gore is constructed by increasing up one side of the hand as you knit. The hand begins and ends with 2 colour corrugated rib and the thumb is also finished with 2 colour rib. I’ve written the pattern in a Ladies and Gents medium. The pattern is exactly the same for both sizes but the Gents is knit on a slightly larger needle. I’ve given the colourway for Jamiesons Spindrift or Jamieson and Smith 2 ply jumper weight. The photographs on the cover of the pattern is in Jamiesons Spindrift and the last photo in the sequence on this page is Jamiesons. 7 colours are used but only a few grams of each are required. These are good if you like to have a small, portable project on the go and if you’d like to try a little bit of Fair-isle before jumping into a bigger project.
