I have had two wonderful people send me yarn. As soon as I opened one of the boxes my dad said, “That’s Skidoo Yellow!!!!! I bet that would make a great helmet liner hat that wouldn’t be itchy or tight.” It was obvious in that moment the yarn had no choice. All the patterns I found used really small gauge which is 1) a pain and not very quick which a stockinette stitch hat has to be if it wants to get finished and 2) requires a ton of yardage which is “Like so not cool”. So I winged it. I was worried about having enough yarn because my dad has a biggish head. There was plenty leftover though!!! I have never worked with Cascade fixation before but it was awesome!!!!!!! SO lovely!
I like that the hat is a simple helmet liner on him. On my smaller head it kind of has a reggae look but I can fold up the bottom as shown down the page and it looks like Meg’s hat from Family Guy! And because the yarn is so stretchy even when it’s folded up it’s not going anywhere!!!
