The retro future is here!

Inspired by the aesthetic of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, knit these asymmetrical beauties in your favourite retro colours.

This is an interesting sock design with a rhythmic ribbed pattern that twines around the foot, appears in an interesting new heel construction with two variations (called a diamond heel) and insinuates itself around the calf. The design incorporates enough detail to be interesting, with enough plain St st and 2x2 ribbing to fly off the needles really fast.

** Note that there is a mistake in the pattern **

You need matching increases on the backs of the leg sections, as well as the front, to keep the pattern and stitch counts constant. It should read:

R3 and all odd: Knit to 1 st before the slanting 2x2 ribbing, k2tog, k1, (2x2 ribbing to final knit stitch of rib), kfb, p1; p1, m1 (2x2 ribbing to 2nd slanting knit stitch, ssk, knit to final purl stitch, p1.
