Feet are symmetrical - not identical. They are mirror images of each other, and I like my socks to reflect this.
These socks feature a simple slanting cable pattern that is reversed on the opposite foot. The result is a lovely, unisex sock that is sure to please everyone.
The pattern is especially well suited to variegated yarn. The long loop stitches use just a bit more yarn than regular stitches, so some rounds take more yarn than others. This helps prevent the pooling and flashing that can sometimes be a problem with handpainted yarns.
Shown here in a thinner yarn at a gauge of 8.25 stitches per inch, which fits a foot or leg of 7.5, 8.5, 9.5, or 10.75 inches. Would also work in a thicker yarn at a gauge of 7.25 stitches per inch, which fits a foot or leg of 8.5, 9.75, 11, or 12.25 inches.
