This sleeveless top with intarsia lace inserts
adds a bit of feminine detailing to an otherwise
simple knit tank. Eyelet lace details are knit into
place with lacey scallops quickly and easily
embroidered to the surface.

Body of the hand knit sleeveless top is
worked in one piece up to the armholes. Diagonal
eyelet inserts are knit in place intarsia-style.
Bottom, armhole, and neckline edges are all finished
with hand knit eyelet edging. Narrow shoulders
and side shaping lend a slenderizing appearance.

I used my usual sock yarn, 5/2 perle cotton
(2100 yds per lb / 24-26 wraps per inch). The
fine cotton feels cool against the skin even on
the most humid Texas day, although it would also
look outstanding in any other yarn which produces
a gauge of 8 sts x 11 rows per inch on Size 2 US
needles. This produces a stable gauge in the
cotton which maintains its shape, not distorting
or stretching as for garments knit at too loose
a gauge.
