Slip Stripe Shawlette

A simple, top-‐down shawlette with a subtle vertical stripe. This shawlette looks particularly nice with variegated yarns, because its slip stitch pattern breaks up any flashing or pooling that you get from the colors in the yarn.

You can use more yardage for a larger shawl instead of a shawlette, if you prefer.

I’ve used both sport weight and worsted weight yarns to make this. The thicker your yarn, the heavier your shawl will be (so if you make it with bulky yarn, expect to wear it only in the depths of winter!). I found that sport weight yarn yielded a nice layering piece that I was able to use through winter and springtime.
