Note: This is a modification to turn my pattern, Giddy-Up the Horse into a donkey. You will need the base pattern in order to make Slowpoke.

Meet Slowpoke, a sweet little donkey content to take things slow and steady. He’s not stubborn, he just likes to do things at his own pace.

Slowpoke can be made in any yarn and hook combination you want. Just be certain that the fabric is firm enough that stuffing does not show through.

My Slowpoke is made in I Love This Yarn! Solids using three colors and bit of scrap yarn for the nose.

  • Color 1: Greybeard (110 yards)
  • Color 2: Graymist (40 yards)
  • Color 3: Graphite (20 yards)

Slowpoke is an advanced beginner-level pattern. Skills you will need include single crochet, increases, decreases, color changes, and crocheting into the bottom of a foundation chain, and some seaming.

The pattern has plenty of progress photos to help you along your way to making an adorable little donkey. Also included is a photo tutorial on how create child-safe eyes from felt, although plastic safety eyes can be used as well.
