This pattern is 22 pages long and contains loads of photos to help you every step of the way. It is written in American crochet terms.

There is obviously some assembly involved with this design, but I’ve really tried to keep the amount of sewing to a minimum where possible. For example, the head, body and arms of all of the people are made in single pieces. The sheep is made in a single piece, the donkey is made in a single piece (you just add the mane) and the camel is made in a single piece (you just add the blanket on its back).

You will need:

Yarn of your choice. I used Patons Smoothie DK Yarn (this is quite a thick DK yarn so it is equivalent to aran or light worsted weight in other brands) and the figures of the people in the set measure approx 6.5cm tall.

These are all of the colours that I used but feel free to change them for colours of your choice:

A skin tone, dark pink, dark blue, light blue, dark green, light green, purple, lilac, dark grey, light grey, dark brown, medium brown, dark yellow, light yellow, beige, cream & white.

I used each colour as follows:

Mary - Skin tone, dark pink, dark blue, dark brown for her hair, dark yellow for her belt.

Joseph - Skin tone, dark grey, light grey, medium brown.

Baby & Manger - Skin tone, white, dark brown.

Wise Man 1 - Skin tone, dark blue, light blue, light grey for his beard, dark yellow crown, green gift.

Wise Man 2 - Skin tone, dark green, light green, brown for his beard, dark yellow crown, dark pink gift.

Wise Man 3 - Skin tone, purple, lilac, dark grey for his beard, dark yellow crown & gift.

Angel - Skin tone, dark yellow, white for the wings, light yellow for her hair.

Shepherd - Skin tone, cream, medium brown, dark brown for his beard, beige crook.

Camel - Beige, purple blanket & a small amount of yellow for the trim.

Donkey - White, light grey, dark grey.

Sheep - White, beige.

Stable & Star - dark yellow, beige.

You will also need:

A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.

Some toy stuffing.

Coins or metal washers - each of the people have a 5p coin inside their base, to help weight them and make them stand more easily. A 5p coin is 18mm in diameter, so you could use any suitable sized coin or metal washers.

Black finer yarn or embroidery thread for adding the eyes / facial details and a suitable colour for adding the smiles.

Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some scissors, some pins and a stitch marker.

You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself. Thank you.
