Smithies is a simple lace cowl - a quick cosy knit needing just one skein of Titus to make.

Celebrating 10 years of baa ram ewe, we chose to use our first yarn, Titus, a gorgeous blend of the finest British fibres: Wensleydale, Bluefaced Leicester and Britsh Alpaca. Titus is named after Titus Salt, a Yorkshire industrialist and philanthropist who set up the model village of Saltaire, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Salts Mill at the heart of the village was the largest industrial building in the world when it was completed.

We’ve named this pattern after Grace Smithies, which was the maiden name of Titus Salt’s mother.
