These fingerless mitts are soft, straightforward to make and easy to customize by picking your own colour scheme. They also make a lovely gift…

The red and blue colours shown here are hand-dyed. But the ‘Turkey’ and ‘Robin’s Egg’ colourways available from Pear Tree are very similar to the blue and red shown. A very small amount of a third colour (about 10m) is also needed for the thumb. I used Filatura di Crosa Sportwool in Black Coffee Heather.

Instructions are given to work the mittens knitted flat and then seamed, with additional notes offered at the end to explain how to convert to knit each mitten in the round. Instructions to make the thumb either seamed or in the round on DPNs are also given.
