This pattern was designed when I wanted to do something to raise money for those families who lost everything in the many wildfires experienced in Alaska in 2019.

The motif on the sock reminds me of the wisps of smoke that waft gently through the air as fire finally gives up the last of its heat and fades away.

This sock pattern is knit top-down and features a cabled/slip stitch motif that is mirrored on the right and left socks. The patterning extends down the front of the sock and fades away on the top of the sock. The heel is knit using the heel flap and gusset technique and a barn style toe finishes off the design.

This project would be great for an advanced beginner or an early intermediate knitter.
