This is a cute, slightly asymmetrical scarf that can be knit in any weight of yarn you like. Suggested yarns are DK/Sport but truly any weight will work, adjusting needle size to make a soft fabric.

Suggested needle sizes (optional) might be:

Lace - 3.5mm
Fingering - 3.5mm
Sport/DK - 4mm
Bulky - 5 or 6mm

If you like the look of the fabric, then that works!

The finished size depends on the amount of yarn you have. Weigh your yarn first and knit until approximately half of is gone then begin your decreases to complete the scarf. Needle size will also have an effect on finished dimensions - for a larger, lacier scarf use a larger needle size.

Techniques include increasing, decreasing, yarn overs, knit and purl.
