Snow Blossom is a quick-to-knit hat featuring a simple Fair Isle flower border. Originally designed as a baby hat for my youngest daughter Emma, the pattern evolved to include five sizes: baby, toddler, child, women’s small and women’s large. The straight-forward decreases and narrow Fair Isle border make this a great pattern for those trying their hands at stranded knitting for the first time. Snow Blossom is knit a sport-weight yarn. The hat is knit from the brim up on a circular needle, with double pointed needles used when decreasing to shape the top.

SIZE: Baby (Toddler, Child) (Women’s Small, Women’s Large).
To fit a head circumference of 14 (16, 18) (between 19-20.5 inches, between 20.5-22) inches.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: The ribbed brim measures 13.5 (15, 17) (18.5, 20) inches, but can stretch up to another 2 inches.

GAUGE: 18 sts/26 rows = 4 x 4 inches or 10 x 10cm in stockinette stitch.

MATERIALS: Sport weight yarn, approximately 60 (100, 140) (180, 200) yds or 55 (90, 130) (165, 185)m of the main color, plus approximately 20 (22, 24) (26, 28) yds or 18 (20, 22) (24, 26)m of contrasting color #1 and scrap yarn for contrasting color #2.
