The Snow Day Hat combines all-over seed stitch with earflaps, tassels and a pompom for extra warmth and “style”. Perfect for an elusive snow day or a fun day hanging out with friends.

On a more personal note this hat also reminds me of Sheldon’s hat that he wears when sick, incognito or moving to Bozeman. I’m finally watching The Big Bang Theory and realizing that I’m raising my own personal almost-Sheldon. I love him fiercely. Always being one of the smartest kid in the room is hard especially when you miss social cues or just don’t know how to relate. I hope for him friends that are true enough to see past any mistakes and the strength to truly show the world what he can do with his amazing mind.

Sizing: One size fits most
Head circumference: 20” or 51 cm
(Note: As written the total finished length should be about 9” 23 cm depending on your row gauge. One of the reasons this hat can fit such a wide range of head sizes is the shallow length and the extra-large earflaps that measure 5.5” 14 cm wide by 6” 15 cm long.)
Yarn: 1 ball Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride Worsted (85% Wool, 15% Mohair; 190 yds 173m/4 oz 113g).
Sample knit in color M180 Ruby Red and used 106 g or about 180 yds (all but a tiny, tiny bit of one ball).
Needles: Size US 8 5.00 mm 16” circular needle and US 8 5.00 mm dpns (or size needed to get gauge)
Other materials: Stitch marker, yarn needle
Gauge: 16 sts and 24 rows = 4” in seed stitch
