Make a riotous rainbow scarf to bring color and warmth to winter. This scarf pattern uses an uncommon technique for knitting vertical stripes -- which doesn’t involve casting on a bazillion stitches or working with several colors of yarn at once. You can do it with only two double-pointed needles. Our pattern also allows for your creativity as you choose from several options to finish the ends. Or not!

The result looks good on both sides.

We used nearly a full skein each of six rainbow colors in a sport weight, mostly acrylic, yarn. You can make your scarf shorter (or longer!) or with more or fewer colors. Gauge is unimportant, as long as you like the weight and drape of the result in k1 p1 rib stitch.
