I so admire the lovely Waldorf inspired flower children made of felt, but I am so fond of my crochet hook, I decided to try to create a crochet version:)

This little snowdrop child is made usuing double knitting or light worsted weight yarn, but she could be made with any weight yarn, adjusting hook size accordingly. She has a little snowdrop hat and holds a snowdrop flower like a lantern. Please note that the snowdrop lantern and hat are approx. twice the size of a ‘ real life’ snowdrop…. this has to be so or the flower child would be just too small:)

She was made in readiness of our Winter nature table display at home but she can be hung on a wall, enjoyed in a nursery or kindergaten or for a child’s bedrrom or nursery. Please note however, she is not a toy. However, make her without the snowdrop flower and use very secure stitching ( particularly for her hair- my daughter loves pulling on dollies’ hair!) and she would be suitable for gentle play for over 5’s.

The pattern is written in English and uses standard USA crochet terms- however, British crochet equivalent terms are stated at the start of the pattern. This is a relatively easy pattern and helpful photographs are present throughout. There are no fancy stitches, just chain, slip stitches single crochet and double crochet and working in spirals.
