“This cardigan was the first garment I designed with a Latvian motif, and was knit long before I had any idea I would write a book on the subject. The snowflake or star used in the border of this cardigan is common in Latvian weaving and knitting pattern and also in Scandinavian patterns. The overall pattern is from a mitten in Latviesu Rakstainie Cimdi by Mirdza Slava which Lizbeth Upitis has in her book collection.”
