Snowflake Wonderland Crochet Shawl

The Snowflake Wonderland Crochet Shawl is a simple but very unique piece of Art – I used the “slow changing color yarn” for the reason that the snowflake looks gradually lighter or darker starting at the center point out. You may also use the solid color if you prefer, but my option gives the visual texture and noticeable snowflakes (when you use solid color, the snowflake shawl will not have the same effect). Also, I used the blend of wool to give the warmness and fuzziness with texture – and, for the best effect, you may add to few snowflakes a shiny trim. Let’s begin.

Skill level: Intermediate and/or adventurous
Sizing: Shawl size - Once Size and/or size to your liking
Snowflake size – 6 pointed, 20 cm/8 inch (across the snowflake)
Length of the Shawl: 117 cm/42 in, or depends on your desire/need/placement of the snowflakes
Width of the Shawl: 185 cm/73 in, or depends on your desire/need/placement of the snowflakes.

Essentials:

  • 3-4 balls/skeins of yarn that is interchangeable in color/shade (preferable long color transitions) (300-400g/1500-2000meters of double knitting/sport/thin yarn – any kind and/or color you like) (You may use 3 to 4 balls of yarn, but ideally use only 3 to 3 and half because the other half of a ball you will need to attach the snowflakes together).
  • Optional: 3 balls of corresponding colors that will shine/sparkle/stand out for the edges of few snowflakes
  • Crochet hook No.: 3mm (or accordingly to your yarn thickness)
  • 1 sewing needle
  • 1.5-2meters of thin ribbon to secure the width of the shawl (optional)
  • NO Blocking – we are looking to get the texture
