Before I discovered Ravelry, I found a cute picture of an octopus wearing socks, but no pattern. I decided to create my own, and it actually turned out pretty cute. Having since knit many other patterns on Ravelry, I have felt the need to contribute my own. This is my first attempt to do so.

I must admit, I have no idea what gauge I happened to knit. I also feel that, for this pattern, it doesn’t much matter. Go with your gut; if the legs look like they need to be longer/shorter to you, do it.

For the yardage, I used leftovers from other projects. You will need a good amount of the main body colour (nearly a full skein), but just a bit of the other colours (unless you want to make a hat and scarf with those colours, in which case at least half a skein is needed).
