We are absolute suckers for medieval-looking pieces, and this baby blanket knocked us out at first sight. It has the profound appeal of the very simple project, but with a charming twist-- the ‘petals’ that Selesnick adds to the edges remind us of crenellations and battlements on castles. You can see this kind of edging on clothes in paintings from the middle ages. It’s easily worked (the whole thing is in garter stitch) in a chunky/heavy worsted yarn, and babies look timelessly adorable wrapped in it.
