The cowl is worked in the round. The stitch pattern spirals around, so that its ending / beginning shifts to the left each round.
It suits solid colour yarns, as well as hand-dyed or -painted ones.
100% alpaca suits this design well, or you could use any soft yarn.
Circumference is easily adjustable.
