♫ The Music
Gordon Lightfoot is a Canadian music legend ~ in Song for a Winter’s Night his resonant baritone sings:

“The lamp is burnin’ low upon my table top
The snow is softly fallin’ …“

and although we’re not into winter quite yet, autumn leaves in their dance toward the earth are imitating the snow…

Notes
Beginning with a provisionally cast on back-neck tab, this top-down shawl has a double-leaf centre back panel flanked by two triangles of leaves floating on mock cables columns situated on a reverse Stockinette stitch background.

The top edges are worked in a slip-stitch rib bordered by a single mock cable column. The tri-leaf bottom border leads into the faux-crochet bind off.

Although shown in two colours, this shawl can easily be worked in a single colour.

The stitch patterns are charted only.
