Take comfort in familiarity and simplicity. Here, a familiar, uncomplicated rib pattern is used to highlight the variegation of the yarn, although a solid or striping yarn would also be lovely. Ribbing at the instep adds a touch of shaping to the arch of the foot and a bit of unexpected interest.

Featuring a ribbed version of my favourite Strong-style heel, the sock is worked from the top down without the need to pick up stitches, allowing the finished socks to be reversible.

Sizes included: 60, 64, 68, 72, 76, 80 stitches

Note about foot length: due to the stretchiness of the heel ribbing, you may wish to knit the sock 1/4-inch shorter than usual. Try stretching the heel ribbing when you measure to get a more accurate measurement.

Special note for self-striping yarn, to keep the stripes intact: when you get to the heel turn, work it using the other end of the yarn!

Simply use the other end of the yarn for row 1 of the heel turn through the last repeat of row 6. For rows 7 and 8, switch back to the original strand of yarn, as you are starting to work in the round again. You will have two more ends to weave in, but your striping pattern will continue unbroken.
