Solace Gloves is a fun fair isle pattern. I designed it to be good for a knitter who love fair isle, but has difficulty with keeping their floats loose. Most floats or only 2-3 stitches long, with a few going to 5 stitches. The pattern is easy to anticipate so you don’t have to spend so much time checking the chart.

While a knitter with experience in glove construction and fair isle would have an easier time with these, I don’t think that prior experience is absolutely necessary. Pattern includes the following techniques: increasing, decreasing, fair isle stranding, chart reading.

These fit a woman’s meduim hand, measuring 8” around the palm above the thumb. If you need a smaller or larger size, feel free to go up or down a needle. Using a US0 should get you a small size and using a 1.5 or 2 should get you a large.

Each glove takes 25 grams of yarn, using a bit more of the main color than the contrasting color. It’s perfect for those leftovers from your favorite pairs of socks. Feel free to make yours matching or opposite like me.
