Errata: The chart contains a few erroneous knit stitches where there should be purls. This has not yet been updated on the Petite Purls site, so I have added it as a JPEG in the photos.
The underarm bind-off contained an error. It should read: Next Rnd: P2, bind off next 7 sts, p1, c6f, p2, sl m, k to marker, p2, c6b, p2, bind off next 7 sts, p1, sl m, knit to end. If you have any trouble, please PM me and I will do my best to help!
This sweater has existed in my mind for years now, ever since we started taking our son hiking in the high desert of Southern California. There is a road called Soledad Canyon Road that winds through the landscape past rock and scrub. Soledad the sweater grew organically from the idea of that road, and when I discovered the perfect cable in a stitch dictionary everything just fell into place.
