You create the textured stripes of this bag using linked stitches that let you complete the tall rows quickly without leaving any gaps or holes smaller items like pens (and crochet hooks!) could fall through.

Aside from a few stitches to join the short ends of the strap together, this is a no-sew pattern. All the assembly is done by crocheting.

This bag is formed from two basic rectangles and a long strip, so it’s easy to make a bag of any size. Full instructions are given for modifying the bag’s width and height, and the strap length.
