A Sonata is an instrumental composition with three or four movements differing in rhythm and mood but related in key. This elongated diamond-shaped shawl is constructed tip to tip and features two opposing areas of color and four distinct stitch patterns. The Icord edge, garter stitch, weave pattern, and eyelets work in concert to create a piece that looks the same on the right and wrong sides. Depending on the wearer’s mood, this shawl can be folded lengthwise to highlight one color or the other.

Choose 2 contrasting colors, approximately 420 yards each, for a total of 840 yards. (Color A is used for the eyelet side of shawl.)

There is NO Intarsia, picked-up stitches, or short-rows in this pattern.

A different size yarn can be used if 51% of the total weight is reserved for the decrease and end sections and an appropriate size needle is chosen to achieve desired drape and open eyelets (dimension may change).
