Speckles of playful color on a wintry background of silvers and greys remind us that spring will come again. But while you’re waiting, this sampler-like cowl will engage your mind and senses as you experiment with colors and create a variety of textures. So fun to knit, you’ll be sorry to see it end…until you put it on and let it warm you deep within.
The design has been created especially to use 20g mini skeins of yarn which are very popular right now. The instructions can easily be adjusted to use each mini till the very end. Or you can use any leftovers you have at home. :)
“Mini Bundle No. One” has been lying in my stash for a while - it was put together by my husband Martin’s Lab.
Today, 30th Nov 2016, at 9 CEST there will be lots of bundles (the gray one - like the sample - plus some other colors) added to his store.
One size: approx. 60 cm/24” circumference and 43 cm/17” high.
1 set of Martin’s Lab Mini Bundle (100% merino; 6 x 73m/80y per 20g) or any other fingering weight yarn in six colors, which gives you the correct gauge. Shown in colorway Number One: Snow Illusion (CC1), Tabby (CC2), Fairy Dust (CC3), Silver Lining (CC4), Candy Sparrow (CC5), Ash (CC6).
3.75 mm/US #5 circular needle (40 cm / 16” long).
3.5 mm/US #4 circular needle (40 cm / 16” long) or dpns, or one size smaller than gauge needles.
3.25 mm/US #3 circular needle (40 cm / 16” long) or dpns, or two sizes smaller than gauge needles.
stitch markers, tapestry needle for weaving, blocking pins.
26 sts and 36 rnds = 10 cm / 4” in St st worked in the rnd with the largest needle (after wet blocking).
Note: Pattern is designed to use every last bit of each mini skein; if you do not meet the gauge, you may want to have an extra Mini Bundle on hand just in case you run short.
If you purchase 5 of my self-published designs at the same time (they need to be in the same cart), you will get the least expensive for free!
