The Southerly tam is knit top down and incorporates some interesting techniques and a unique stitch pattern. The tam knits up quick and is perfect for gifts. Knitters with experience will find this pattern a new twist on an old hat and new knitters with some wear with all will find the Southerly a fun and challenging learning experience.

I’m really excited for this pattern as I had such a great time designing and knitting this one. The stitch pattern is interesting and works great with semi sold hand painted yarns as well as solid and variegated. I used Louisa Harding’s Grace Hand dyed which is a worsted weight yarn that is 50% wool and 50% Silk. Warm, soft and shinny, but any worsted or dk weight wool or wool blend would work.
