Spellbreakers is a stranded mitten pattern featuring pinwheels on the back of the hand that are present in both the positive and the negative space. On the palm of the hand, colour dominance gradually shifts from MC to CC. And if you wanted, you could also wear them “backwards” so the palm side faces out.

These mittens are worked in the round from the cuff up, with a thumb gusset. The left and right mittens mirror each other, and charts are included for each hand.

Skills required: working in the round, chart reading, stranded colourwork, basic increases and decreases, shadow wraps, Kitchener stitch. Pattern includes illustrated instructions for some of the techniques, as well as a handy trick for avoiding “ears” at the corners of the graft.

You will need approximately 50 grams of the MC, and 25 grams of the CC (this includes a buffer).
