When I first started designing hats, an everyday beret was on the top of the list! With a few different versions, I didn’t seem to find satisfaction with my results, until it hit me……1 year later…. the 6 stitch cables make the legs of the spider, spiraling along the hat! After a long wait, here is the new FINALE version of my Spider hat!

This pattern is great for advanced-beginner knitters who are looking to make a great cabled beret. It’s easy to read and knits with worsted/aran weight yarn. The finished hat fits heads approximately 22-24 inches stretched out.

Materials required:
60g of worsted or aran weight yarn (check gauge)
US 9/5.5mm circular needle, 16’ / 40 cm
7mm circular needle 16’ / 40cm and dpn

If you don’t have a 7mm, you can use a US 10.5/6.5mm or US 11/8mm. A larger needles will make the hat slouchier and the smaller needles more of a beanie. This will also vary depending on yarn use.

Skills: knit stitch, purl stitch, cables, decreases and increases, knitting in the round
