Description:
I wanted to create socks with a texture reminding of waves and sea spray, with a stretchy and airy pattern. This resulted in my “Splash Wave Summer Socks”. Slip stitches are combined with lace to get changing textures.
The cuff is knitted sidewise in a garter stitch lace pattern, and then stitches are picked up along the straight side of the cuff. Then, the sock is worked in rounds down to heel and toe.
The heel is my variation of the “Strong heel”, with gusset and heel knitted at the same time, followed by a heel turn.

I would be happy if you give the pattern a heart when downloading :)

Update 28.07.2017:
Chart D has been revised, to avoid misunderstandings. I found a missing * in rnd 8 of the written description, too. This is fixed in the new PDF.

Update 31.12.2023:
Corrections (not updated in PDF) - many thanks to my dear friend hubleyddavis who has a lot of great notes on her project page, like these corrections:

  • When working Chart B - the instructions refer to Chart A and should be Chart B
  • Chart D - we have 33 stitches for the instep, the repeat should be 7 times, not 6 times - 6 times would only account for 29 stitches

This pattern is for private use only and may not be resold.
I take no responsibility for any errors, but would be grateful if you contact me if you find some errors.

Many thanks to Felisi for test knitting!

Note: I knit a bit loose. If you’re a tight knitter, you may want to adjust your needle size.
