This hat should do well for living history buffs, re-enactors, or people who love Renaissance Faires. It is inspired by the split brim flat caps worn during the Tudor times in England. It is sized for an adult, but the felting process allows quite a leeway in actual fit--less felting, bigger hat, more felting, smaller hat. This hat needs to be made with a wool yarn that can be felted. Superwash wool and some types of natural wool resist felting, so make sure your fiber will behave like you want it to. Actual gauge is not an issue, since the felting process allows you control over the finished gauge.

This project takes about two skeins of Paton’s Classic Wool or, if you are a spinner, about 420 yards of a worsted weight yarn.
