What I love most in the springtime is seeing the trees wake up and come back to life! I always get excited when I see the first baby buds, knowing that those buds will soon transform into full blown leaves! The Spring Forest shawl captures that springtime transformation by using three repeating stitch patterns that mimic the baby buds, the opening blossoms and then the fully developed leaf. A central cable represents the trunk of the tree, while a surrounding ribbing-like pattern emulates tall grasses and blossoming flowers. The border of the shawl mirrors the expanding reach of the roots under forest floor, showcasing a complete forest in bloom!

Some of the techniques used are a garter tab cast on, simple lace, cables and the spider’s web embroidery Stitch. I do link to video tutorials for the garter tab cast on and the spider’s web embroidery stitch.

This pattern also includes a little bit of striping and fading color work.
