The flower gardens that are blooming across the country have always had a special place in my heart. Early this year I was able to watch many blossoms opening up and shining their bright colors. And, yes, there were cats that loved to jump around the flowers and chase each other around. It was during one of these mornings that I thought about how I could create a pattern that would show off the variegated skeins as well as be a fun knit. And so, Spring Garden was born.

This is a wonderfully simple combination of cables and lace with a hint of waviness that shows off your variegated yarns. It would also look great with tonals, gradients and handspun. Once you’ve completed the chart a couple times, you may find that you have it memorized and that makes it a great travel project.

You’ll need a skein of sock yarn (between 300-375, depending on the length you make), a cable needle, and your favorite sock needles (I prefer using the “Magic Loop” method of knitting socks). You also might like to have handy your favorite mug of coffee or tea, a bouquet of flowers, or even a happy song list playing in the background.

A huge hug of gratitude to my testers, procastonlater and annahop - You guys are awesome!
