This lacy cowl was inspired by the first maple leaves in the spring. The lace pattern reminds you of the leaves that are not yet fully open and grown.

The cowl is worked in the round and is totally feasible for a beginner in lace knitting. The lace pattern looks much more intricate than it really is. The pattern repeat is actually quite short and simple and easily memorable.

Finished measurements of the cowl: circumference approx 27” / 68 cm and height 14” / 35 cm.

The size of this cowl is easily adjustable, you just have to work more or less repeats of the pattern. This lace pattern would look equally nice if knitted with thicker yarn (fingering, sport, DK or even thicker).

Pattern includes written instructions as well as chart.

Gauge: 25 sts / 38 rows = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch using US 2.5 / 3 mm needles (matching exact gauge is not essential, but it will affect finished measurements of cowl and amount of yarn needed).

Required skills: k, p, yo, k2tog, ssk, knitting in round.
