“Might I,” quavered Mary, “might I have a bit of earth?” “Earth!” he repeated. “What do you mean?” “To plant seeds in — to make things grow — to see them come alive.” — Frances H. Burnett, The Secret Garden

Semilla is the Spanish word for seed. When I started designing the socks for this season I had a very clear idea in my mind about what I wanted them to look like. I wanted them to resemble a garden getting ready to be planted, little seeds being planted in the dirt and then I imagined sitting down to admire the work while sipping some tea.

The pattern is a fun combination of cables and yarn over’s with some stockinette stitch to show the beautiful variegation of the yarn.
