This super simple washcloth celebrates the joys (and the rain) of spring. The sky is reverse stockinette stitch, and the rain effect comes from strategically placed knit stitches throughout.

In order to avoid warping and weirdness, this pattern uses the intarsia method of color changing, so don’t forget to twist the yarn when picking up another color.

The border and the face were made using crochet stitches, but if you haven’t harnessed the power of the hook, I bet a knitted border and sewn on face would be just as cute.

Since it’s such a small project, it’s perfect for using up extra cotton that you might have buried in your stash. And it would be a great project to knit while enjoying the spring weather. If it’s not raining…
