Springtime for Dolly is an Estonian lace design with a twist. The 7-stitch nupps are worked in a different color. This is a new technique I developed under a broader category that I am introducing as “Knitted Embroidery”. This technique produces a reversible fabric that looks good on both sides. Springtime for Dolly is the first in this series, and is offered for free.

The pattern is also accompanied by two videos:

  1. The first video, part 1, introduces knitters to the new technique for working the nupps in a different color – watch here
  2. The second video, part 2, shows how to manage contrast/nupp color yarn when working multiple pattern repeats on the same row – watch here.

Springtime for Dolly is shown as an 18” doll size scarf. However, knitting instructions are given to knit as 3” x 22” for doll, and 5” x 53”, and 7” x 53” for people/adult sizes.
