After a long, deep sleep, new grass slips its way above the earth, dotting the land with the brightest of green. These tiny slivers of growth are the harbingers of spring, and a sign that while the world was cloaked in snow, deep in the ground, nature was at work, readying herself to burst forth with the arrival of warm sun and fair weather. In 2017, the Sprouting Grass Moon occurs on April 10.

The Sprouting Grass Moon shawl comes in two sizes – shallow, with an approximate body depth of 14 inches (36 cm) and deep, with an approximate body depth of 18 inches (46 cm). Both versions feature a simple twisted stitch pattern for the body, two sets of Vikkel braids, and a twisted stitch leaf pattern in the border.

The green sample shawl is the shallow version. It was knit with Ancient Art Fibre’s (colour: Cat’s Eye Green) and measures 86” along the straight edge, 90” along the curved edge, and is 14” deep (218 x 29 x 36 cm).

The grey sample shawl is the deep version. It was knit with Fleece Artist’s BFL 2/8 (colour: Silver) and measures 74” along the straight edge, 82” along the curved edge, and is 18” deep (188 x 208 x 46 cm).
