Square Bags that Look Round

Fingering (14 wpi) ?
12 stitches and 18 rows = 2 inches
US 2 - 2.75 mm

You may be reminded of the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when knitting one of these little bags, which start with a simple bias square. As stitches are picked up from the four sides, a round-bottomed bag emerges, perfect for carrying a supported spindle or two, a little wooden bowl, and a bit of roving yet to be spun. Sarah Swett enjoys the “pure, rhythmic pleasure” and whirling sound made by a supported spindle turning in the bottom of a wooden bowl in her lap.
