Lately I’ve been fascinated with creating crochet designs that involve crocheting into holes made in fabric or paper. This project continues that trend. The squares on the messenger bag are fabric squares that I sewed together. I installed eyelets around the edges, and then crocheted into the holes created by the eyelets. I then attached these fabric/crochet squares together and crocheted the rest of the bag, including the strap. After this, I sewed a lining and lined the inside and the strap. The result is a durable, unique messenger bag that combines crocheting and sewing beautifully. The pattern includes instructions for the sewing and the crocheting.
