I wanted to knit something a bit quirky and I think I have achieved that! This is what would happen if you squashed a rat in the middle of your book. The body is flat and the head is thicker so it can stick out of the top of your book.
I think these would be great for something a bit unusual for a fete or market.

The tongue sticking out is my son’s idea.

The blood oozing out from his side is optional.

It is knitted on 2 needles. Use 8 ply (DK) yarn for your hardback books and 4 ply (fingering) for your paperbacks (makes it thinner and smaller) A great project for a beginner. It is about 15 cm (6”) long in the 4 ply and 17cm (7”) long for the 8 ply (not including tail for either).
