Rugged lace is one of my favourite terms, and I like to use it often when describing lace that isn’t…lacey! The panel detail on the back of these mitts weaves in and out, in an interpretation of the gentle soundwaves of the squeaking the rounded grains of quartz make on Squeaky Beach as you walk along.

These fingerless mitts are knit by holding two subtly tonal shades of Isager Tvinni together throughout. There is an inherent loft and warmth in the fabric as a result, as well as a beautiful heathered appearance. If you’d prefer, they can of course also be knit mono-chromatically, or with a higher contrast. An easy way of working double from a single skein is to wind it into a cake and take a strand from the outside and the inside.

Sized for Small and Large, the pattern accommodates most hand sizes and it is possible to complete one set of either size from a single skein of Isager Tvinni is only using one colour (held double).

Alternatively, using two colours will yield enough meterage for two pairs of mitts.
