SUMMARY: St. Gallen is a child’s or adult’s hip-length cardigan with pockets, long, drop-shoulder sleeves and a shawl collar. The overall pattern is stocking stitch while the hemline, button bands and pocket edges are worked in Moss stitch. The button bands are worked from ‘held’ stitches and slip stitched into place. The shawl collar and cuffs are worked as separate pieces in an intricate Fair Isle pattern and attached to the sweater in the finishing steps.

The sweater is presented in 2 colourways, the 1st one
predominantely light and the 2nd one dark. There are 7 colours used of differing yarn weights. The Main colour (A) is either Chunky Tweed or Recyled Chunky, both bulky weight yarns. The second colour is either Designer DK (DDK, fine weight) in the 1st Colourway (B1) or Donegal Lambswool Tweed (DLT, super fine weight) in the 2nd Colourway (B2). The third colour is either DLT in the 1st Colourway (C1) or DDK in the 2nd Colourway (C2). The remaining colours (D – G) are DLT. The DLT or super fine weight yarn is used double throughout the garment.
