The perfect shawl pattern to showcase that special skein of handdyed yarn.

I really love garter stitch - it’s soothing to knit and really brings those hand-dyed yarns to life. In this case I have paired it with a lacey rib pattern to give a light and airy shawl that is big enough to wear over the shoulders or draped around the neck kerchief style. The star rib is easy to execute and its unfussy vertical lines give a nice contrast to the garter stitch.

Yarn substitutions:
Original yarn for this pattern was a bamboo/merino fingering but any 4ply/fingering yarn will work for this shawl. You will need a full 400m.
St John’s Eve was originally designed for the Propaganda Yarns Zombie Club and was designed to showcase the hand-dyed colourway “St. John’s Eve”. Propaganda Yarns is no longer in business, but you can find Tri’Coterie yarns here.

UPDATE JAN 14:
Pattern updated with new layout and photos, minor edits for clarity.

UPDATE Oct 13:
V2 update Oct 2013 to remove a typo that was causing confusion. There was an extra ** in line 6 of the lace which I have now removed. My apologies.
